I saw older posts for Word 2010 suggesting writing a Macro to achieve this or setting Zoom to 100%. I tried setting the Zoom to 100% but that setting was not remembered because as soon as I opened a document for which I was advised to switch from Protected mode to edit it, Word opened it in multiple pages side by side view. It's quite irritating to go and click on One Page every time I open a Word document because that is the setting I always want. Is there an easy option to fix the One Page setting for all documents in Word 2016?
Generally, Word 2016 and 2013 are better than older versions at preserving the one-page view, regardless of zoom. If you find that it doesn't work, running a macro on startup should work around the problem, but, as you have noticed, Protected view frequently causes macros to fail. You can run a macro manually, after you have opened the file and closed the Protected view, by attaching it to a keyboard shortcut and/or a button on the Quick Access Toolbar. Sub SetOnePageDisplay 'Macro created by Stefan Blom, MVP, January 2017 With ActiveWindow.View.Type = 3 'Print Layout view.Zoom.PageColumns = 1.Zoom.Percentage = 100 'or the value you want End With End Sub See also. Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP Volunteer Moderator (MVP program information: https://mvp.microsoft.com/). It's unfortunate that even after years of complaints Microsoft hasn't provided a simple option to keep One Page view as the Default. I would consider this not just a basic convenience but an Accessibility requirement as well as to work with multi page layouts one requires a lot dexterity and coordination between the neck, eye and hands.
